Tamare Smai School of Afrikan Yoga

At the Tamare Smai School of Afrikan Yoga, we believe that the knowledge of African, Eastern and Western history is important as they are keys to the reconnection and the awakening of Kemetic (KMT) consciousness.

Knowledge of Eastern and Western ideologies, culture and systems facilitates the understanding of the current world consciousness whereas knowledge of African History enables us to understand the origins of many cultural ideas and practices that were disseminated around the world during the birth of early global civilizations across the East and West that evolved from the birthplace of humankind – Africa (Tamare).

Nine Purposes of Afrikan Yoga

Within the Afrikan yogic tradition there are Nine Purposes for the practice of yoga that allows the practitioner to get to the core of their being and to be courageous in love, to know thyself, be centered and aware.

The Purposes are:

  1. Emancipation/Freedom
  2. Action
  3. Knowledge
  4. Power and Personal Power
  5. Love
  6. Transcendence
  7. Joy
  8. Wisdom
  9. Truth

Training to become an Afrikan Yoga Teacher

It is important that you understand your reasons for becoming a certified Afrikan Yoga Teacher and the vision for your practice.  Some of the benefits include:

  • Contributing to the health and well-being of your community
  • Providing the public with a greater awareness of Tamarean/Afrikan yogic principles and their ancient traditions
  • Earn money doing something you enjoy and improve your health at the same time
  • Be a part of an International movement of Afrikan Yoga™ Teachers, opening the spirit of healing onto the world

The first stage of certification is completing Level One known as Seba Set where training is intensive over 12 days after which further training is required for another year or two to reach Level Two - Seba Ptah.

A requirement of a teacher is to undergo Insight/Sia Meditation training known as Vipassana amongst Buddhist, this along with Noble Silence from seven to nine days for inner transformational work is performed annually.  Another requirement is to train in a chosen alternative therapy to obtain greater sensibility to the human condition.

Pablo Menfesawe-Imani says:

‘When you have studied practices other than yoga it makes you more of a rounded teacher and it’s simply another service you can offer at any given time’

Teachers may complete subsequent intermediate levels and senior levels of certification once they have completed Level One and Two.
